NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING 

CITY OF DEXTER

CITY COUNCIL

Notice is hereby given that the Dexter City Council will hold a public hearing at 7:30 p.m., on Monday, September 11, 2017.  The hearing will take place at the Dexter Senior Center, 7720 Ann Arbor Street, Dexter, Michigan. The purpose of hearing is to take public comments regarding the adoption of an Adopting Ordinance for the Re-Codification of the City of Dexter’s General Code of Ordinances.

The Re-Codification of the General Code of Ordinances is necessary due to the Cityhood transition, and involves text edits to all ordinances to reflect this change. The following text edits have been made to the draft Code of Ordinances:

  • Village to City
  • Council President to Mayor
  • Board of Trustees to City Council
  • Supervisor of Public Services to Superintendent of Public Services
  • Appropriate Township Clerk to City Clerk
  • Incorporate the City’s Charter and provide Ordinance references
  • Update State Law References to indicate the change from General Law Village to Home Rule City

The draft Code of Ordinances is available for public inspection at the City Offices, 8123 Main Street, 2nd Floor, Dexter, MI 48130; weekdays between 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.  Any questions regarding the application should be directed to the City Manager’s Office at 734-580-2234.

Interested parties are welcome to attend the public hearing and present their comments. Written comments regarding the proposal should be submitted to the City Manager’s Office at the address listed above or via email to jbreyer@dextermi.gov, and must be received no later than 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 5, 2017.

Sign language interpreter, or other assistance, may be provided upon request to the City Clerk jbreyer@dextermi.gov, at least 72 hours in advance of the meeting.  Minutes of all meetings are available on the City website, www.dextermi.gov
