Planning Commission Public Hearing

Pursuant to Michigan Public Act 110 of 2006, as amended (the Michigan Zoning Enabling Act), notice is hereby given that the City of Dexter Planning Commission will hold a public hearing at 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 2, 2018, for the purpose of considering a special land use application.  The public hearing will be held at the Dexter Senior Center, 7720 Ann Arbor Street, Dexter, Michigan, 48130.

The purpose of the public hearing is to consider a special land use application, submitted by Douglas L. Smith, for the purpose of establishing a Cross-Fit Physical Fitness Center, at 7275 Joy Road

(Parcel ID # 08-03-32-390-001). The subject site is zoned RD, Research & Development District.

Pursuant to Section 17.03, Special Uses, personal fitness centers may be permitted in the RD, Research & Development District, upon review by the Planning Commission and approval by City Council.    

Copies of the plans and application are available for public inspection at the City Offices, 8123 Main Street, 2nd Floor, Dexter, MI 48130; weekdays between 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and can be viewed by clicking here. Any questions regarding the special land use application should be directed to the Office of Community Development at 734-580-2233.

Interested parties are welcome to attend the public hearing and present their comments.  Written comments regarding the proposal should be submitted to the Office of Community Development at the address listed above or via email to, and must be received no later than 5:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 20, 2017.
