The City of Dexter is seeking candidates who are collaborative leaders with proven problem-solving skills to be our next city manager. Dexter is a walkable community located approximately ten miles northwest of Ann Arbor, and the award-winning Mill Creek Park connects to the Washtenaw County Border-to-Border Trail and to the Huron River Water Trail, bringing outdoor enthusiasts into its traditional downtown. Vibrant neighborhoods combine with commercial and industrial businesses to provide the perfect mix of uses for this thriving community.
City Council consists of the mayor and six council members, each elected to staggered, four-year terms. Staff consists of 17 full-time employees, supplemented by part-time, seasonal employees as needed. The Community Development, Treasurer/Finance, and Public Services departments are headed by long-time, dedicated employees who work closely together with the city manager, lead union employees, and each other in a team atmosphere. The recently renegotiated contract with Teamsters Local 214 expires in 2023.
