Code Enforcement

Code enforcement staff respond to issues that affect public safety and welfare within the City, such as unpermitted construction, overgrown lots or yards, inoperative vehicles, dilapidated and dangerous structures, illegal signs, and public nuisances. Public nuisances and code enforcement issues are civil cases, which are non-criminal violations of local ordinances.

Concerns about public nuisances and other code-related issues should be submitted in writing to the Office of Community Development using the form below:

Code Enforcement and/or Ordinance Violation Complaint Form

If necessary, the person(s) filing this complaint may be asked and/or summoned to court by subpoena to provide testimony on this complaint.

In the event of an emergency or a concern about criminal activity, please contact the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Department.
