Recycling Quality Evaluation and Improvement Program

The City of Dexter is one of several municipal members of the Washtenaw County Regional Resource Management Authority (WRRMA). WRRMA’s goals include increasing the quantity of quality recyclable materials within the region. WRRMA was awarded a grant for a program to evaluate the quality of each participating community’s recycling (including the City of Dexter); then to engage in an educational campaign to improve the quality of each community’s recyclable materials, starting with what is put into curb carts. The Recycling Quality Improvement Program involves the mailing of educational materials to each address in the City, social media outreach, and curbside feedback with hang tags at the curb carts. The curbside recycling visits by WRRMA representatives are planned to begin on Monday, June 21st and continue each Monday through August 12th.

A full description of this program and recycling educational materials are available on the City’s website at: https://www.dextermi.gov/government/recycling_improvement_program.php.
