Access to City Services During "Stay at Home" Order

During the time of the Governor's "Stay at Home" order, City employees will still be accessible via e-mail and phone. Phone messages that are left for employees will be forwarded to their e-mails. The only drop box that will be available is next to the door of the Sheriff's substation at 8140 Main. The process to follow for anyone needing to file a zoning permit is described below. Staff will respond to and follow up on as many things as we are able to while complying with the Governor's order.

Permits

Starting Tuesday, March 24, 2020 (pursuant to EO # 2020-21) zoning compliance and development review applications will be accepted (application, payment and plans) only on Mondays and Wednesday from 9 am - 4 pm, at the Dexter Area Fire Department station (8140 Main St, Dexter, MI 48130).  Application packets can also be mailed to 8123 Main St., 2nd floor.  Depending on the permit type, it may be eligible for e-mail submission. The Washtenaw County Building Department continues to perform daily inspections.  Applicants can call in or email in a request for an inspection.

County Building also continues to accept and review permit applications. Non-commercial construction project applications can be submitted online through the County’s eConnect site.  Commercial construction projects and projects requiring plan review are not eligible for online permitting.  For commercial construction projects and projects requiring plan review, the County has set up a bin in the front of its office for applicants to drop off permit applications.  The bin is checked by 3:00 pm each day.  Applicants are warned not to leave application materials, including plans and credit card payment in the bin after 3:00 pm.
